"In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befal me in life, -- no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair. Standing on the bare ground, -- my head bathed by the blithe air, and uplifted into infinite space, -- all mean egotism vanishes. I become a transparent eye-ball. I am nothing. I see all."              ---  Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nature

Oh, to be a transparent eyeball!!  To feel that nothing bad can happen to us that we cannot handle; To stand in the woods, in our bare feet, and feel the dirt and grass between our toes, the wind brushing by our cheeks; To feel not as if we are viewing nature, but that we are part of nature, part of something bigger than ourselves - to find ourselves by getting lost in the woods.

But, alas (I love that phrase!), unlike Emerson and Thoreau I don't have acres of untouched woodlands surrounding my home.  I do have a family to care for, a job to report to, a marriage to build and oh, yes, there's my dream of becoming a published author of fiction.  Can't write anything.

So this is my corner of the Internet . . . Here I'd like to explore my reignited interest in American Transcendentalism, my love for writing, provide some writing prompts to get you inspired, maybe share a bit of my own life and experiences, as well as some links and resources that I enjoy and, hopefully, you will, too.

Since I started with a quote from one of my favorite American authors, let me leave you with one more from Mr. Emerson: "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
